E. Manoharan (Ceylon Manohar). In Sinhala, the playful refrain “Surangani-ta maalu genawa” simply means “I brought fish for Surangani”, a lighthearted line that captures the fun and festive nature of Baila. In our version, we’ve extended that story — adding fresh Kannada lyrics that imagine Surangani herself, shyly reacting to the song being sung for her. Paired with the nostalgic Kaanadante Maayavadanu from Chalisuva Modagalu (1982), originally voiced by Master Puneeth Rajkumar, this rendition brings together the infectious rhythm of Baila with the heartfelt charm of Kannada cinema’s golden era.
