What are Home Enabling Supports (HES), and how can they help individuals live more independently? This virtual learning session provides an overview of Home Enabling Supports (HES), a new OPWDD HCBS waiver service designed to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in New York State. HES uses technology and remote supports to help increase: • Independence • Safety at home • Community participation • Daily living support In this session, you’ll learn about: • Eligibility requirements for HES services • The three main HES service categories • How the referral and approval process works • Technology vendors and available supports • The role of Care Managers and providers HES Service Categories Include: Assistive Technology Examples include: • Smart home devices • Medication dispensers • Environmental controls Remote Supports Technology that allows: • Two-way communication • Virtual check-ins • Safety monitoring and troubleshooting Health Assessment & Coordination Services (HACS) 24/7 telehealth consultation and health support services.
