Casa Tunich is located in Telchac Puerto, a coastal town in the northern Yucatán Peninsula. The project is set on a regular plot with 20 linear meters of beachfront facing the Gulf of Mexico and a depth of 24 meters on a corner lot. These characteristics laid the foundation for the design of the project. The house was designed with a focus on ocean views and optimizing the flow of refreshing sea breezes throughout the spaces. The indoor social areas of the project are semi-open spaces, designed to open up both to the north and south through large windows, creating a connection to interior patios and exterior social areas. These spaces are characterized by the concrete furniture, specifically designed to require low maintenance given the corrosive coastal climate. The gray tones of the interior are combined with wood, natural fibers, and warm lighting, creating simple environments that invite relaxation in this beach house.
