Hose Mountains Expedition

Named after British colonial administrator and zoologist Charles Hose, the Hose Mountains of the Sarawak interior remain some of the most remote and poorly explored peaks on Borneo today. The mountains, which are covered in virgin rainforest, have been left largely untouched by ubiquitous logging practices on account of their sheer steepness. It is that steepness and lack of ready access that makes the Hose Mountains one of the least visited regions of Malaysia, and certainly one of the most logistically difficult. The region supports a very rich ecosystem of fauna and flora, and many of the species catalogued from the area are endemic. Travel as part of an exclusive team to explore largely undocumented forests that are rich in carnivorous Nepenthes pitcher plants. At least 8 species of Nepenthes are native to the mountain range, and 3 of those are thus far known from nowhere else, presenting an excellent and rare opportunity to document these and other unusual plants and animals in a rarely visited habitats. Owing to the extreme remoteness of this expedition, a team medic will be on hand to monitor and safeguard your health.
