🇬🇧 NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL 2025, WALK AROUND NOTTING HILL, 4K, When is Notting Hill Carnival 2025? The Carnival takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday 23 August to Monday 25 August 2025. Saturday, 23 August – Panorama Steel Band Competition. This ticketed event marks the official launch of the weekend and features the UK’s top steel bands competing in a lively musical showdown. Sunday, 24 August – Family Day (Children’s Parade & J’ouvert). Known as the more family-friendly day, Sunday includes the children’s parade, paint-throwing “J’ouvert” celebrations, and an early start of dancing and street parties. Sound systems across Notting Hill switch on from midday until around 7 pm. Monday, 25 August – Adults’ Parade & Grand Finale. This is the main day of Carnival, with the biggest and boldest parade of the weekend. Elaborate costumes, masquerade bands, and floats bring the streets alive. Sound systems and live music stages keep the energy high until evening. Where is it Held? The Carnival takes over large parts of West London, especially around Notting Hill, Ladbroke Grove, Westbourne Park, Westbourne Grove, and Kensal Road. Streets are closed to traffic, creating a huge pedestrian-only festival zone filled with music, food stalls, and dancing. What to Expect Parades – Colorful masquerade bands with feathers, sequins, and themed costumes. Music – From traditional steelpan, calypso, and soca to reggae, dancehall, hip hop, jungle, and house. Over 30 static sound systems pump music across the area. Food & Drink – Dozens of stalls serving Caribbean street food such as jerk chicken, patties, rice and peas, roti, plantain, and rum punch. Crowds – Around two million people attend, making it one of the largest annual gatherings in London. Travel & Access Public transport is the best way to reach Carnival, as many roads are closed. Several London Underground stations near the route will be exit-only or temporarily closed due to crowd control. Plan ahead and expect busy conditions. Walking from nearby stations outside the main zone is often the easiest option. Safety & Updates for 2025 A £1 million funding boost from City Hall and local councils has secured the safe running of Carnival in 2025. Live Facial Recognition technology will be used at entry points as part of heightened security measures. Police officers have been instructed not to dance with revellers this year to maintain operational focus. A moment of silence at 3 pm on Sunday will honor those lost in past tragedies, including Grenfell victims and community pioneers.
