Southern 630: Knoxville to Alcoa

On July 14, 2012 I finally got the chance to chase a steam excursion through my own backyard, along Norfolk Southern's K&A branchline from Knoxville to Alcoa, Tennessee. Southern 630, fresh from hasty repairs in Roanoke, provided the power southbound, while a lashup of three diesels provided the power returning northbound. Railfans turned out all along the scenic line despite the weather, which swung from sunny to rainy many times over the day, and it didn't matter if 630 was struggling up a grade or speeding down a straightaway, no one was disappointed by the performance of this little 2-8-0 as she thundered through the hills of East Tennessee. Be sure to watch in 720p and to leave feedback if you enjoyed!
