KARIN WALTON: Racquetball's California Girl

Karin Walton was just 23 years old in 1979 when she rocked the racquetball world by winning the National Championships in Tempe, Arizona. No one -- except Karin herself -- expected her to win the Nationals since she'd only been on tour a couple of years and was ranked #16 going into the event. However, she upset the #1 seed Shannon Wright in the semis and defeated long-time pro Janell Marriott in the finals before a standing-room only adoring audience. Immediately following her victory the sponsorships, cover shots, and TV appearances poured in. Racquetball fans around the country could not get enough of the beautiful blonde California Girl. Although her pro racquetball career was not long-lived, Karin has lived a lifetime of athletics, shared with her father and two older brothers.
