Government to close Durban repatriation site for Malawian nationals
Government says it will close the drive-in site in Durban, where thousands of Malawian nationals have been accommodated while awaiting repatriation and deportation. Speaking during an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Migration briefing, committee chairperson Mmamoloko Kubayi said that more than 15,162 Malawian nationals had been processed for repatriation and deportation as of 25 June. Kubayi also announced that the jurisdiction of the Musina Refugee Reception Office has been extended to conduct verification processes to help manage the migration response.
