I get the question all the time - where is the best street food in Tulum? It's true that i've spent an inordinate amount of time exploring and diving Tulum - far more than most Americans you'll ever meet, and this video is long overdue on the subject of the best street food in Tulum! Street food is a fundamental element of Mexican culture in the Yucatan. While Tulum is popularly known for its pristine tropical beaches, Mayan heritage, eclectic culinary venues, cave diving, cartel violence, and in the past few years - its unrivaled tenure as the unparalleled Instagram hot spot in Mexico for tourists who thrive on posing for photos in front of trendy art installations - it is also the epicenter of exceptional street food in the Mayan Riviera. Tacos al pastor, tortas, burritos, esquites, and churros are just some of the mainstays you can expect to discover when exploring the streets of Tulum, or the neighborhood at the southern end of town, the perpetually growing district of La Veleta. During last week's diving expedition, we had a bit of down time, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend an evening than indulging in the best street food in Tulum. One thing i'd like to make very clear about this Tulum Vlog - it took me years to find these venues (after consistent trial and error), and there are dozens of other street food stalls which fully deserve to be showcased in their own right. What makes the best street food in Tulum, is a combination of flavor, consistency, preparation style, and value. At least, in my perspective.
