The SEALION 7 continues the design language of the DOLPHIN Ocean series—the C-segment hatchback—and the SEAL—the D-segment sedan—adapting it to a sporty SUV body style. The car's overall length is 30 mm longer than that of the BYD SEAL, but the difference is more noticeable in its height, as the SEALION 7's roofline is 160 mm higher. Furthermore, the Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) as the cathode material. LFP chemistry offers higher levels of safety and durability compared to lithium-ion batteries, in addition to being 100% cobalt-free, a material that has raised ethical and environmental concerns in the mining industry. LFP batteries are also more resistant to extreme temperatures, less sensitive to temperature fluctuations, and can withstand more charge and discharge cycles with minimal capacity loss, making them exceptionally durable. The BYD SEALION 7, like the SEAL, benefits from BYD's pioneering Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology. CTB technology features a high-strength, honeycomb-shaped aluminum structure that enhances safety and, by using the battery pack as a structural component of the body, also contributes to incredible torsional rigidity. Thanks to its innovative technologies, including double-V magnets and an incredibly high winding rate of 92%, the SEALION 7's rear motor can operate at speeds of up to 23,000 rpm, making it the fastest production electric motor in the world. This motor develops 313 hp (230 kW) and 380 Nm of torque, and plays a vital role in both drive configurations. It's the only engine in the rear-wheel-drive Comfort version, allowing the SEALION 7 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 215 km/h. In the Design AWD and Excellence AWD versions, this engine is joined by another 217 hp (160 kW) engine on the front axle, providing all-wheel drive and achieving a combined output of 530 hp (390 kW) and 690 Nm of torque. The top speed of these versions is also 215 km/h, but the additional power reduces the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to just 4.5 seconds. The Comfort model, with rear-wheel drive, and the Design AWD model, with all-wheel drive, incorporate an 82.5 kWh Blade Battery, allowing the single-motor version to achieve a combined range of 482 km, while the dual-motor Design AWD version achieves 456 km. The top-of-the-range Excellence AWD boasts a 91.3 kWh battery with a combined range of 502 km. All BYD SEALION 7 versions come standard with 11 kW AC three-phase charging, with the option of choosing between different DC fast-charging speeds. The Comfort and Design versions can be charged via DC fast charging at up to 150 kW. The Excellence AWD, with its larger battery capacity, can reach charging speeds of up to 230 kW. All models feature V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, up to 3.3 kW. The BYD SEALION 7's dynamics are further enhanced by a new intelligent torque distribution system, iTAC (Intelligent Torque Adaptation Control), which is offered on all-wheel-drive versions. Its overall length of 4,830 mm, its generous wheelbase of 2,930 mm (10 mm longer than the BYD SEAL), and the completely flat rear floor made possible by the e-Platform 3.0 create a comfortable cabin space for five adults to travel in complete comfort. The BYD SEALION 7's trunk has a usable capacity of 520 liters, which expands to 1,789 liters with the rear seats folded down. There is also a 58-liter front storage compartment ("frunk"), ideal for storing charging cables or even a travel bag. Other improvements include better compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which are now more integrated into the BYD interface, allowing users to stream music from a smartphone directly from the menus.
