RIRONI -MAU SUMMIT dualing Current Updates

The Rironi–Nakuru–Mau Summit (A8) Road dualling project is one of Kenya's largest ongoing highway projects. It will upgrade the existing two-lane highway into a four- to six-lane dual carriageway, reducing traffic congestion, improving safety, and cutting travel time between Nairobi, Nakuru, and Western Kenya. Key details: Length: About 170–175 km from Rironi to Mau Summit. Construction started: Late 2025, with work launched from multiple sections simultaneously. Expected completion: 2027, with some sections such as Rironi–Gilgil expected to open earlier. Once completed, the project is expected to: Ease the heavy traffic jams common around Naivasha and Nakuru. Improve road safety by separating opposing traffic. Speed up movement of passengers and cargo along the Northern Corridor to western Kenya and neighboring countries.
