Gravel Bike loop from Lake Tahoe to Donner Tunnels

From Tahoe City to the Donner Tunnels on a gravel bike. Bucket list ride! 62 miles / 4800 feet of climbing. A super sweet Lake Tahoe gravel bike ride. I chose to ride up Mt. Watson Road out of Tahoe City and then connect to Sawtooth Road for some sweet gravel descending. Sawtooth led me into Truckee from where I got on the 89 Highway and then climbed on dirt road and trail towards the Donner Tunnels. The idea of this ride was to explore a route to the tunnels from below, not go up Donner Pass Road. I wanted to loop the tunnels. I did a little bit of research and couldn't really find a route or record of anyone doing this, so I just tried. Worked great! Not what I'd consider an easy ride, but manageable. Especially if you are just doing the Truckee loop. Coming to the tunnels from below was a little scary, given that I just rode into a dark hole with no one around. Big kitty / Poo vibes... All in all an amazing adventure! Here is the strava:   / strava   Link to the Printshop: https://www.jonasjungblut.com/printshop
