Thanks to @colmdawson7018 for pointing out my faux pas and a simple potential fix: Hi, the pickup you identify as "not great" is the bridge, not the neck as you point to. On mine I clipped the bridge pickup springs and added some foam underneath and now it's just as loud as the neck pickup and sounds great.
