Penn State vs. Michigan 2006 GAME STORY
For the second time in 2006, Penn State faced one of the top teams in the country and went toe-to-toe with them for most of the game's duration. Both offenses struggled against superior defenses in this one, as points were difficult to come-by overall. As the running game struggled mightily, the Nittany Lions were forced to go to the air and attempts were thwarted in the third quarter when starting quarterback Anthony Morelli was knocked out of the game. It wasn't much longer when the Wolverines also took out Daryl Clark, the back-up, as well. It was the second game in just three seasons that two Penn State quarterbacks were knocked out of the same game, having to turn to its third string quarterback. (the other time coming against Wisconsin in 2004 when Zack Mills and Michael Robinson left the game for injuries.) It was just one part of a drama filled storyline for a raucous crowd for a white-out under the lights against Michigan. Penn State's Top Performers: Tony Hunt: 13 carries, 33 yards .. 5 catches, 85 yards, TD Sean Lee: 9 tackles Paul Posluszny: 7 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 Sack With the loss, Penn State falls to 4-3, while Michigan remained undefeated and would finish with an 11-2 record in 2006 with a final ranking of 8th, nationally, losing to USC in the Rose Bowl.
