Sunday service 19th April 2026 Licensing service of Rev Gitonga 1st Reading Ezekiel 33:1-13 2nd Reading John 12:20-26 Preacher : Very Rev David Ritho Gathanju Topic: We are living at time of confusion, hopelessness, desperate times. A point of desperation. Economic hard times each one of us is facing. We don't know where we are heading. In such a time, Israelites were facing during captivity in Babylon. Jeremiah 29:11 gave them hope. He encouraged them people to marry, farm and work for things are going to be good in future. Ezekiel came in also to give them hope. He told them about watchman or a leader of the community. If the watchman was to see destroying sword, he was whistle for warning. if people failed to respond, the watchman was not to be blamed. If the Watchman fails to warn or whistle, and people are destroyed, their blood will be upon him. Today Rev Gitonga has been made a watchman. Lead people to see Jesus, give them hope. People want to see Jesus in you and through you. In the 2nd Reading, people said that they want to see Jesus. Likewise today, we want to see Jesus in our actions. Paul told Hebrews that they're our letters for they have experienced Jesus in their life. once we know Jesus, we become his ambassador. The way we relate with others, our actions, lifestyle, the way we talk, we should reflect Jesus with our life. We be a legible letter to others. We be defender of faith, the one who has called us is faithful to see us through.
