The stage is set for the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath tomorrow. Today, on the auspicious Pratipada Tithi, the sacred 'Ubha Yatra' rituals are being observed at the Puri Srimandir. Following the completion of Gopal Ballav and Sakala Dhupa, the highly anticipated 'Agyan Mala Bije' policy will take place at the Ratha Khala (chariot workshop). Key Rituals & Chariot Alignments Today: Reaching Singhadwara: The wheels and axles of the three grand chariots will be oiled today before being pulled from the Ratha Khala to the Singhadwara (Lion's Gate) by servitors, temple administration, and police personnel. Dakshina Moda: Once the three chariots reach the Singhadwara Chakada, the crucial "Dakshina Moda" (southward turning/alignment) will be performed. Early Pahandi Preparations: Following yesterday's brief two-hour Nabajaubana Besha darshan, public darshan inside the temple remains closed today. The Srimandir Chief Administrator announced this decision to ensure all secret internal rituals are expedited so that Pahandi can start early tomorrow. Banaka Lagi Rituals: The Datta Mahapatra servitors entered the temple at 4:00 AM early this morning to begin the sacred Banaka Lagi (facial makeup) rituals of the deities. Tomorrow, after the formal chariot consecration (Ratha Pratishtha), the Chaturdhamurti will ascend their magnificent chariots for the grand Gundicha Yatra.
