The year was 1177 and Saladin, who by then had lived a large part of his life in military campaigns, had earned the respect of his adversaries and the admiration of his subordinates, the stories of his "chivalry" and generosity were already beginning to be known by everyone. When Saladin beat his opponent, if he was a Muslim, he used to free him with gifts, when the custom was totally the opposite. But Saladin aspired to more, he had sworn to take Jerusalem and return the city to Islam...
