JFK Airport's Unfixable Problem

JFK Airport is one of the busiest international gateways in the United States, but it’s also one of the most chaotic. From endless delays and confusing terminal layouts to a runway system that just can’t keep up, it’s no wonder JFK has earned its messy reputation. In this video, I dive into the history of JFK (originally known as Idlewild), explore what happened to the iconic terminals of the past, and break down why the current terminal layout is so inefficient -especially when it comes to transferring between flights. We’ll also look at the airport’s biggest issue: congestion. With intersecting runways and limited taxiways, JFK simply can’t operate at the level it should. Even the ongoing multi-billion dollar redevelopment might not be enough to fix these deep-rooted problems.
