SFGC: https://www.sfgirlschorus.org VOM: https://www.voicesofmusic.org Vivaldi set the verses of the Psalm as a strophic hymn, with elegant variation of the recurring rhythms to give each verse an individual character. He then added an angular, arpeggiated countermelody for the violins that ruffles the close-knit texture of the voices. For this performance, Voices of Music has arranged the choral parts for SSAA, as was the custom in Vivaldi's time. This performance is the premiere of this new arrangement. Laetatus sum (Psalm 121/122) Laetatus sum in his quae dicta sunt mihi: In domum Domini ibimus. Stantes erant pedes nostri, in atriis tuis, Jerusalem. Propter domum Domini Dei nostri, quaesivi bona tibi. I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: We shall go into the house of the Lord. We stood in your courts, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem, built as a city, continuous and secure. There did the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, with the testimony of Israel, to praise the name of the Lord. Here are the thrones of judgment; the thrones of the House of David Pray for peace in Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. For the sake of my family and friends, I say, “May you have peace.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem. #vivaldi High Definition Audio: Boby Borisov Final audio and video master: David Tayler
