Riding The Weaselhard Trail In Calgary - A Hidden Gem In The Middle Of The City!

Today, I rode the Weaselhard Trail in Calgary, Alberta, Canada! It is one of my favourite trails in the city, and I ride it very often since it is so quick and easy to bike to and starts just off the Glenmore Reservoir bike path (riding around the reservoir on the path is also a great bike ride)! This trail ends up in Weaselhead Flats at a beaver dam, where I have seen the beavers many times throughout the years when the water level is higher and in the winter when they are on the ice. Overall, the trail is just over 2 km long, and it is full of small hills with quick ups, downs, and turns. The trail is also lined with beautiful wildflowers like Alberta wild roses, and the first section is in a really nice pine forest - almost like a small microclimate down the hill from the paved bike path and close to the water that reminds me of forests in the Rockies - before transitioning into the aspen forest that surrounds most of the reservoir and fills the Weaselhead Flats park. It is a well-maintained trail, full of roots, smells great in the forests, and is tons of fun throughout the year - it is also really nice in the Fall, when all of the aspen trees and other bushes and plants change colour.
