Kaam Ki Baat - 04 Projectile Motion

Haanji Beta! Welcome to Episode 04 of Kaam Ki Baat. In this lecture, we study Projectile Motion through vectors—not by memorising standard results, but by understanding how those results are constructed and applied. You will learn: • How to express the position, velocity and displacement of a projectile in vector form • How vector addition gives a clearer picture of projectile motion • When the velocity of a projectile becomes perpendicular to its initial velocity • Multiple approaches to the same problem: vector triangles, dot products and rotation of axes • How to choose an efficient method without depending on memorised formulas • A challenging displacement problem involving perpendicular velocity • The connection between average velocity and displacement in uniformly accelerated motion The purpose of this session is to help you develop the ability to think through an unfamiliar problem. A formula is useful only when you understand where it comes from and why it applies. Homework Challenge: A shell is projected vertically upward and explodes at its highest point. All fragments move with the same initial speed in random directions within the same vertical plane. Show that, at any later instant, all the fragments lie on a circle. Also determine the centre of that circle. Solve the challenge and post your reasoning in the comments. Even if you cannot reach the final answer, share your approach—because learning physics begins with learning how to think.
