Pioneer A-0012 (A-27) Series 20 Amplifier Evaluation

Pioneer's flirted with premium branded audio gear several times in the past. We had the Elite series, the SPEC components, and the super high dollar Exclusive line only released in Japan. But they wanted to do something special outside Japan in the late 70s as well, which led to the Series 20 line. This line included two FM tuners, a pre-amp, an integrated amp, two power amps, a turntable, and a few other components. As part of my continuing self-education of consumer electronics repair, I decided to go out and buy the integrated amplifier in the series to restore. Known as the A-27 outside Japan, it was offered in Japan as well as the A-0012. And I now have one I hope to restore. Let's find out how well it's working and see how big of a challenge this will be.
