The evolution of the temporary market halls in Merville as of February 15, 2024 (pending the permanent ones at the end of 2025), as well as the surrounding area. The town's name is derived from the Soleil d'Orient (Sun of the East), the first ship built on the site in 1669. The workers named the site after the ship, which, through contraction, became simply L'Orient and finally Lorient. Lorient is located in Morbihan, in southern Brittany (France).
