Ayşen Güven and Osman Erden discuss "Cereyanlar" (Currents); the Show of Hands Improvisational Music Festival, İz Öztat's exhibition "Now and There, What Then?", the play "I Woke Up to My Father's Voice," and reflections on what independence means… The connections between these topics once again transform into a current. *** The word "cereyan" means current or flow. For us, it describes the communication of discussion and criticism; of thinking differently from each other. We can say that our "Cereyanlar" are conversations that touch upon artistic movements and open up discussions about the currents of ideas circulating among us. Tanıl Bora, in his book "Cereyanlar" (We've borrowed the title), talks about the "harmful current" label previously applied to "dangerous ideologies." We, too, set out with the intention of leaving the increasingly harmless cultural and artistic environment somewhat in a state of flux.
