Kirchenrebell Eugen Drewermann: 80 Jahre lang radikal | Sternstunde Religion | SRF Kultur
Eugen Drewermann is one of the most controversial and well-known theologians in the German-speaking world. As a church critic and former priest, the 80-year-old looks back on an eventful life. To this day, he focuses on the individual, leaving the institution behind. đ Subscribe now to SRF Kultur Sternstunden on YouTube đ https://www.youtube.com/srfkulturster... Ensuring that humanity can finally be freed from their fears is one of Drewermann's greatest concerns and his most intensive efforts. To this day. And to this day, he continues to thrive, as Drewermann is a much sought-after speaker and prolific author outside the Roman Catholic Church. He remained an inconvenience to the church institution throughout his life â not least because he remained true to himself and his analyses despite all disciplinary measures. It was in 1991 that the Archbishop of Paderborn revoked his ecclesiastical teaching license. A year later, he was even suspended from the priesthood. The ruling at the time stated that Drewermann's analyses and doctrines were in direct contradiction to official doctrine. Nevertheless, Drewermann didn't leave the church until he was 65. Why? In a conversation with Olivia Röllin, he looks back on his childhood, recounts his most profound experiences, describes why Dostoyevsky saved his life, and explains why psychotherapy and compassion are better than punishment.
