He made history by winning the 1978 Mr. Universe with the first and only perfect 300 score, and went on to win the heavyweight class at the 1979 Mr. Olympia. Ray Mentzer: Mike’s younger brother was an absolute powerhouse in his own right. Standing 5'9" and packing on up to 270 lbs of dense muscle, Ray won the 1979 AAU Mr. America title. He was legendary for his jaw-dropping, powerlifter-level strength—most famously squatting an unthinkable 902 pounds for repetitions.
