Greg Bottrill - The Play Gandalf, the Magic Mirror and the Essential Self

In celebration of Summerhill School’s centenary, the Summerhill Festival of Childhood and IDEC 2021 took place online between the 30th of September and the 5th of October 2021. More than 150 contributors presented, joined community discussions, shared ideas and performed. Most of the festival was recorded and we are happy to share it on this Youtube channel. Greg shares his work within mainstream education that aims to shift the narrative away from control and towards ‘childhood’. He also introduces his concept of the Magic Mirror that he believes can be a potential tool for transforming how teachers see their role within the classroom. Greg believes that 2021 is an opportunity to reclaim a four letter word beginning with L that needs to make a comeback in education.
