Is your tone control buzzing loudly and making a lot of noise? Here's how to fix it. So, the kit I'm tinkering with this time is a 12V non-CT tone control, type XH-A901 using two NE5532 dual opamp ICs. Looking at the schematic design, it seems like this tone control has a factory design error. The ground supply, input, and output are not connected to each other. There are two solutions: 1. Continuing to use a 12VDC non-CT supply, simply jumper two 105 capacitors and add two 100uf - 470uf 35V electrolytic capacitors. Connect the positive terminal of the electrolytic capacitor to the IC pin 8 (VCC+) and the negative terminal to the input ground. Add another electrolytic capacitor to the other IC pin 8, and connect the negative terminal to the output ground. 2. Using a symmetrical CT power supply, connect the positive terminal to the VCC input and the negative terminal to the GND input on the tone control. Then, connect the CT terminal from the power supply to the circuit ground, usually located on the volume control pin. Then, jumper two 105V capacitors. Done. The result can reduce noise and hum by up to 90%, the remaining 10% is usually due to poor quality of the power supply.
