#gymnastics #poses #annapavlova #bonjourbitches A gymnast with a long and storied career, it might have been quite fortuitous that Anna Pavlova shared her name with a famous ballerina from the early 20th century. On all the apparatus Anna showed the grace, elegance, and incredible suppleness of a prima ballerina. Even her vault run was delicate and beautiful. Coached by her mother, Anna had an incredible junior career and captured three junior European titles over two consecutive meets (UB in 00 & AA and VT in 02). She went on to compete at two Olympics representing Russia, where she would medal with her team and pick up a bronze on vaulting in 2004. It was at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 where Anna showed perhaps her most famous floor routine. Pavlova always showed amazing calmness and had such an appealing demeanor. Her FX was one of the few highlights of a competition ravaged by scandal. In Beijing she made Finals for AA, VT, BB, and FX--going on to just narrowly miss the beam podium and finishing in 4th place. For an easy drinking game, take a sip every time I say "poses"!! El oh el. And yes, the whole poses thing is sarcasm slash confusement over that poster's interpretation of this routine.
