Halifax Class Modernization/Frigate Life Extension Project Part 2

Part II of the HCM/FELEX documentary continues the story of the five-year long project to bring 20th Century frigates into the 21st Century by revivifying the heart of their combat systems and sensors. While Part I shown them being taken apart and put back together, Part II concentrates on the new suite of capabilities installed into the ships. It examines each “piece of kit” separately and in detail, outlining exactly (if briefly) what each component is designed to do – including their balanced defensive and offensive weapons suite, illustrated through real-world sea-training sequences shot in the Operations Room. It’s not exactly “Canadian Frigates For Dummies;” more a drink from a fire-hose, an audio-visual smoothie chock-full of sound and vision info for tech-heads, naval enthusiasts, defence journalists, professional industry-types and – last but not least – the Canadian taxpayer, in whose service the ships sail in defence of our interests anywhere, throughout the maritime world.
