SILENT Lake District walk from popular Buttermere up to Haystacks with scramble

A Lake District circular walk from Buttermere village to Haystacks summit starting with an easy lakeside stroll. A popular Lake District place to visit. After the lake we have a steady gentle uphill ascent to Scarth Gap followed by a few scrambles to the top of Haystacks. Our route down wends its way along rocky paths passing Innominate Tarn then later at the head of Warnscale Beck we turned left downhill admiring the impressive waterfalls along the way. After passing Gatesgarth (which is an alternative start/finish to this walk) we continued alongside the bank of Buttermere (opposite side to the route we took in the morning) back to our starting point in the village of Buttermere. Though a little cloudy and cool to start with we enjoyed some great views all day. Haystacks was the favourite fell top of Lake District guide book writer Alfred Wainwright, his ashes were scattered at Innominate Tarn just below the summit.
