Bismillah.. ‘Ali bin Abi Talib He is ‘Ali bin Abi Talib (‘Abdu Manaf) bin ‘Abdul Muththalib (Syaibah) bin Hashim (‘Amr) bin ‘Abdi Manaf (Al-Mughirah) bin Qushai (Zaid) bin Kilab bin Murrah bin Ka’ab bin Luay bin Ghalib bin Fihr bin Malik bin An-Nadhr bin Kinanah bin Khuzaimah bin Mudrikah bin Ilyas bin Mudhar bin Nizar bin Ma’ad bin ‘Adnan. He is Abu Al-Hasan and Al-Husain (his sons are Al-Hasan and Al-Husain). Ali was given the kunyah of Abu Turab, a cousin (son of the Prophet Muhammad's father's brother) and son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through his daughter, Fatima Az-Zahra. His mother was Fatima bint Asad bin Hashim bin Abdi Manaf bin Qushai, and she was the first Banu Hashim woman to bear a son. Ali had several brothers: Talib, Aqil, and Ja'far. They were all ten years older than him. He had two sisters: Umm Hani' and Jumanah. Both were daughters of Fatima bin Asad, who converted to Islam and migrated with him. His father was Abu Talib. Abu Talib was a biological uncle who deeply loved the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Abu Talib's real name was Abdu Manaf. This is what Imam Ahmad and other scholars who are experts in nasab and history say. Abu Talib really loved Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, but he did not believe in him. In fact, he died in disbelief as narrated in Sahih Al-Bukhari. Ali bin Abi Talib is one of the ten friends who are guaranteed to enter heaven and one of the six shura experts. He was one of the friends whom the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam died while pleased with him. He was the fourth Rashid caliph. Physical Characteristics of 'Ali He has brown skin, his eyes are large and reddish, he has a big stomach and a bald head. He was short in stature and had a bushy beard. His chest and shoulders are dense and white, he has thick chest and shoulder hair, has a handsome face, and has good teeth, light steps when walking. Ali bin Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, converted to Islam when he was seven years old, some say eight years old, some say ten years old. He was one of the first to convert to Islam. He was among the children who first converted to Islam, as Khadijah was the woman who first converted to Islam, Zaid bin Harithah was a slave (mawla) who first converted to Islam, Abu Bakr was a free man who first converted to Islam. The motive for 'Ali bin Abi Talib to convert to Islam at a young age was because he was under the care of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, that is, when the people of Makkah were hit by famine and famine, the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam took him from his father.
