The military music concert to be broadcast includes in its program martial and military works focused on the history of Spain, primarily that which took place during the 20th century. In addition to works traditionally associated with the Army, compositions that identify the Navy and the Air and Space Force are also included. Military marches that have enhanced and continue to enhance the parade marches of our soldiers; zarzuela, military film music, the popular habanera "Yo Te Diré," and several other works will constitute the highlight of the concert. As for the DIACU Music Unit, it is the heir to the prestigious military bands of the Engineer Regiments that were assigned to this corps in Madrid. Attached from its inception to the Mixed Engineer Regiment, it later became part of the Mechanized Division, formerly the Armored Division, “Brunete” No. 1. In 1998, it was incorporated into the Battalion of the Headquarters of the Central Military Region, and in 2005, it joined the structure of the 1st General Sub-Inspectorate of the Army under the name of the “Music Unit of the 1st SUIGE.” In 2011, it adopted its current name of “Music Unit of the Directorate of Barracks.” Since its creation, and after undergoing a series of adaptations and transformations, the Music Unit of the DIACU has been able to combine effective military activity with an exemplary artistic trajectory, participating in both solemn military ceremonies and extraordinary concerts, events of great institutional significance, and other civil and popular events.
