As a journalist, he has worked for various media outlets, including La Retaguardia and Libros con Uasabi, both founded by Fernando Sánchez Dragó, whom he considers one of his principal mentors. For over a decade, he has taught numerous courses on Spanish and Latin American literature at various universities in the United States, as well as giving lectures. He is also one of the world's leading Cervantes scholars, whose discoveries in the work of Don Quixote have earned him well-deserved international recognition. *The introduction includes a fragment of the song "Todo Está en los Libros" (Everything Is in the Books) as a tribute to Fernando Sánchez Dragó and his outstanding television programs on literature. The lyrics are by Jesús Munárriz and the music by Luis Eduardo Aute.
