I got a dome tweeter from a certain brand on an auction site that was listed as non-working. It uses beryllium metal for the diaphragm. Beryllium is said to have ideal properties as a speaker diaphragm material and has often been used in legendary high-end speakers. In the past, I’ve owned beryllium diaphragm speakers like the YAMAHA NS-1000M and Pioneer S-955Mk3, and I really loved their extended and smooth sound quality. I’m also curious about newer models from companies like Paradigm, but they’re probably out of reach for an average salaryman like me... My goal is to repair this unit and build DIY speakers from junk parts. First, I disassembled it to investigate the cause of the failure—and was shocked by what I found.
