Everyone who talks about Cappadocia thinks of hot air balloons. We did too — until we got there and discovered that the strong winds would leave us grounded for three whole days. Without the €120 per person for a hot air balloon, we decided to experience Cappadocia in the most honest way possible: on foot, trail by trail, and without spending a penny on sightseeing. And Cappadocia delivered everything. In this episode, we left Izmir by bus — 775km, 13 hours and 250 reais for the two of us — and arrived directly in Göreme, the heart of Cappadocia. In two full days we explored the Red Valley, the Love Valley and the Pigeon Valley: fairy chimneys, churches carved into rocks, breathtaking viewpoints and landscapes that seemed otherworldly.
