I Didn’t Expect This in Essex…

26 April 2026: A simple ride through Essex… that turned into something I didn’t expect, England 🇬🇧 This ride started from a quiet corner near Stebbing, surrounded by open fields and peaceful countryside views. It was one of those calm moments where you just want to stop, take it in, and enjoy the silence. On the way to Finchingfield, I pulled over again by a narrow pathway leading into the fields — and for a moment, it took me back to my childhood in Pakistan, visiting my father’s village with my brother. That same simple feeling… same connection to nature. When I reached Finchingfield, I was honestly surprised. The place was full of bikers, and the whole atmosphere felt so welcoming. I didn’t expect Essex to have such a strong biker community — it was amazing to see. From there, I rode towards Thaxted, enjoying the open roads and countryside views along the way. And then came another surprise… Thaxted may look like a small town, but it carries a rich history. From the 14th-century church to the famous Thaxted Guildhall and the windmill — the whole place feels like stepping back in time. Exploring the Guildhall up close was definitely a highlight. After that, I headed back to Finchingfield for tea at the Picture Pot Tea Rooms — but it was closed 😄 So instead, I sat outside, surrounded by fellow bikers, enjoying the peaceful vibe. Had some samosas and biscuits I brought from home — and honestly, it turned out perfect. This ride reminded me that sometimes the best journeys are the simplest ones. Essex truly surprised me — and I’ll definitely be coming back for more peaceful, scenic rides.
