How to Fly Fish for Shad | American and Hickory Shad in the James River

This video is a great beginner guide and refresher for how to fly fish for Shad, both American and Hickory shad swim up the James River in Richmond Virginia to spawn. While they are in the river they are very willing to strike flies and can easily be caught on the fly while fly fishing for them. You can fish for them from a kayak, boat, or even some places wade for them. Shad fishing is fun and can often be filled with 100 fish days. They arrive in Virginia every spring.
