Niger/coup d'état
April 9, 1999 Portrait of Nigerien President Ibrahim Bare Mainassara (IBM), who, three years after coming to power, was killed by his own guards. A retrospective based on archival images and inserts: - excerpt from the magazine "Geopolis" in January 1996, - AITV images, - telephone connection from Niamey where a French aid worker explains the coup d'état. The images from January 1996 at the time of the putsch, with IBM in military uniform, and then from July 1996 where IBM appears in local costume, illustrate a commentary emphasizing the country's political instability (AITV images from January 13, 1997) despite the elections of February 7, 1999, of which we see images (AITV).
