Through the Decades: 60 Years of Peace Corps, In Photos
Peace Corps Week 2021 celebrates 60 years of international peace, friendship, volunteerism, and service. On March 1, 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed an executive order that established the Peace Corps. Since then, 241,000 Americans have served in more than 140 nations around the world. The idea that Volunteers could serve their nation and promote international friendship by living and working abroad inspired thousands of Americans in the early 1960s. Today, we continue our mission with the same enthusiasm, and look forward to advancing world peace and friendship well into the future. Learn more: https://www.peacecorps.gov/
