Left of Black host Dr. Mark Anthony Neal sits down with filmmaker John Akomfrah to talk about Black genius, the spectrum of popularity in Black culture, and Akomfrah's video work, Precarity. John Akomfrah is an artist, writer, theorist, and filmmaker. He is one of the founders of the Black Audio Film Collective and produces works with Smoking Dogs Films. Akomfrah's solo works include "The Unfinished Conversation" and "Auto Da Fé". Dr. Neal teaches Black Popular Culture in the Department of African and African-American Studies at Duke University.
