After a few days exploring Lima, we headed south to Paracas, a place that's often called the poor man's Galápagos. We started the day out on the water, hoping to spot penguins and sea lions around the Ballestas Islands, with a quick stop to see the mysterious Candelabro carved into the hillside. Then it was time to swap the boat for dune buggies as we headed into the Paracas National Reserve, racing across what can only be described as a landscape that looked more like the Moon than Peru.
