Sometimes, regression doesn't arrive shouting. It arrives as a joke. As a "controversial opinion." As a defense of the family. As nostalgia for a time when women had fewer choices. In this video, I talk about how certain conservative discourses are trying to normalize the idea that free women are a problem: women who vote, work, go out, decide, break up, choose not to marry, choose not to obey. The comparison with women in Iran before and after the Islamic Revolution is not to say that Brazil is the same. It's to remind us that rights don't disappear all at once. They are eroded little by little. And when misogyny starts to be treated as a harmless opinion, we need to pay attention.
