Taviano e Tavares - Como foi a morte deles?

Atenevil Victor de Oliveira (Taviano) was born in Tanabi, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, on January 26, 1943, and Sebastião Pereira Tavares (Tavares) was born in Nipoã, also in the interior of the state of São Paulo, on February 12, 1938. They worked in the coffee fields, and the two families became neighbors in Barra Mansa, a rural area of the Ibiporanga district, in Tanabi. They formed a duo, which began singing at parties and dances in that region. In 1970, the duo already lived in São José do Rio Preto and used the stage name Tavares and Zé Negrão. Since it was not yet possible to live solely off music, Taviano was a truck driver and Tavares was a civil construction worker. Then, a country music festival emerged in Araraquara in the mid-1970s, where they participated singing the cururu "Canoeiro" and won the championship, receiving a recording contract with RCA Victor produced by Zé do Rancho. At this time, they used the name Tavares and Zé Negrão, where they recorded a song written by Geraldinho entitled "Conselho de Amigo" (Friend's Advice). They began to work exclusively with music and started to win over the public. Next, they recorded the song "Prato do Dia" (Dish of the Day), also written by Geraldinho, with the Tocantins Record Label, and the success was so great that they surprised and made many friends and fans in the state of Pará, where the duo performed for a while. Among these friends, they met some businessmen who helped them a lot in the city of Marabá. They met a gold prospector named José Maria, the one who appeared on "Fantástico" for finding the largest gold nugget. The gold prospector José Maria sent a draft of his life to Geraldinho and Taviano, so they could write a song, which is called "O Bom Nordestino" (The Good Northeasterner), already recorded by Taviano and Tavares. At this time, the Chantecler record label wanted to sign them, but with one condition: they could not record a tribute. For this reason, they gave up Chantecler to continue with Tocantins, because they had promised to record the song "O Bom Nordestino". They recorded a total of 5 LPs. Among their greatest hits, we highlight: Prato do Dia (Dish of the Day), Cabo Mesquita, Velho Pouso de Boiada (Old Cattle Resting Place), A Verdade da Vida (The Truth of Life), Rei da Exposição (King of the Exhibition), Pequeno Não é Pedaço (Small Is Not a Piece), O Bom Nordestino (The Good Northeasterner), Patrono de Violeiros (Patron of Guitar Players), Berço de Espinhos (Cradle of Thorns), Amor Sincero (Sincere Love), among others. In the early 1990s, Taviano had health problems and died on March 30, 1993, at the age of 50. Tavares fulfilled his concert schedule with his brother Paulo, and then stopped singing. Tavares passed away on June 17, 1999, at the age of 61.
