The head gasket part is actually very simple, but getting to it requires a lot of work. This job should really be done with the engine out of the car since you have to remove so many components that are attached to the cylinder head. Some of the parts that need to be removed are the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, coolant lines, oil lines, injectors, valve cover and much more! So, as you can see, once you remove all of those items out of the way, you are not very far from actually removing the engine. Of course, you can try changing the head gasket while the engine is still in the car, but you may run into some clearance issues.
