How To Digitize 8mm Films Part 3 - Color Correction and Sharpen
How To Digitize 8mm Film – Part 3 (4K) (Color correction, noise reduction and sharpening) **IMPORTANT NOTE: I apologize, the free version of DaVinci Resolve does not have the "Warper" tool, it's only in Studio (paid) version. For $295.00(US) it's worth it! In this video we work on two clips, one is an Ektachrome film and the other is a Kodachrome film. I do a full step-by-step detailed tutorial on the Ektachrome and an overview on the Kodachrome. Those two film stocks usually have huge quality difference; however, their processing steps are similar. The Ektachrome generally has a lot more noise and film grain than the Kodachrome. They both will have some compression artifacts. We will deal with all of it. Part 1 covers specific and unique important information on how to digitize 8mm films. The importance of folder and file organization can't be overstated. I'll provide suggestions on how to do that, as well as exactly how I organize my folders and files. Part 2 covers specific and unique important information for syncing the sound of 8mm films. I will also include downloadable files to help you with the 8mm editing process. Those downloadable file links will be in the Description of Part 2. Part 1 Link • Video Part 2 Link • How To Digitize 8mm Films Part 2 - Syncing... If you don’t have an editing program, I suggest you download the free version of DaVinci Resolve, yes free. It does not expire and it is fully functional. The only difference between the free version and the Studio (paid) version is the paid version has some extra features and plugins – and costs $295.00 (US). In most cases, the free version should more than suffice. Below is a link to Black Magic Design, which is where you can download DaVinci Resolve. I also included links to some of my favorite DaVinci Resolve tutorial instructors.
