Huawei Ascend P7 unboxing and First Look http://gdgts.by/1fPGqBI The Huawei Ascend P7 is finally here, after a few months of leaks and rumors, we finally get to see the successor the the "thinnest phone" and check out if it is any better. Specs wise, Huawei has pumped a few new upgrades into the device, along with a design overhaul on the software side. Starting with the hardware, the Ascend P7 has a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display, the same as the HTC One (M8). Internally there is a 1.8GHz quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with a 32GB microSD slot, 2500mAh battery, WiFi, NFC and LTE. The LTE bands are Category 4, meaning they will not work in the US in their current state. Huawei does have the opportunity to sell the phone in certain European countries, but Huawei has always been more close to Asia. We have always like Huawei's design and their strive to have the thinnest smartphone. At 124g, it's definitely not the lightest smartphone in the world, but the 6.5mm side is one of the thinnest we have seen ever. Huawei has added an 8MP camera to the front of the device, along with a 13MP camera on the rear. Both have non-spherical lenses and will come with a handful of features to optimise photos and edit later. Onto the software, Huawei has added Emotions 2.3 UI on top of Android KitKat 4.4, and it is a sad state of affairs. The last version of Emotions we tried was basically unusable, with rushed and weird UI decisions that made the platform really hard to understand and work on. This year, Huawei has cleaned up their act for the Ascend P7. redesigning some of the UI to make it more consistent and nicer to look at, but overall we still feel there is too much on the device that nobody will ever use. Huawei has added anti-virus security, permissions managed, network management, harassment filter and do not disturb functions.
