Without any amplifier, the magnetic loop antenna receives the magnetic part of the radio waves. These waves pass through all material objects effortlessly, even through thick concrete walls. And because they are very insensitive to electrical interference, such as those caused by mobile phones, Wi-Fi, etc., in modern households, magnetic loop antennas are perfectly suited for indoor shortwave reception. Since magnetic loop antennas are directional, they are best mounted on something rotatable, such as a video tripod, which can be gently rotated horizontally.
