Saint Irenaeus of Lyon | Defender of the Apostolic Faith | Feast Day June 28th 📖⛪

Today we celebrate Irenaeus of Lyon, whose feast day is celebrated on June 28. Born around 130 AD in Smyrna (modern-day Türkiye), Irenaeus later became Bishop of **Lyon in Gaul. As a young man, he studied under Polycarp, who had personally known John the Apostle. This direct connection to the Apostles gave Irenaeus a unique role in preserving the true Christian faith. At a time when false teachings spread throughout the Roman Empire, he courageously defended the Church's teaching by pointing to: 📖 Sacred Scripture ⛪ Apostolic Tradition 🤝 Apostolic Succession ❤️ The unity of the Church His most famous work, Against Heresies, explained why Christians should remain faithful to the teachings handed down from the Apostles.
