No, this is Montenegro One of the must-see places in Montenegro is the Bay of Kotor. This deeply indented bay is actually a flooded river valley. Surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and adorned with several islands, it makes an incredible impression. Many compare it to Norwegian fjords. 🏖 While visiting the bay, it's worth visiting several of the local towns. Charming Kotor, considered one of Montenegro's most beautiful cities, is particularly captivating with its old town. It's worth admiring it from the city walls, which also offer a clear view of the bay. 🏖 Herceg Novi transforms into a kingdom of flowers in summer. The hillside old town, whose streets are adorned with a multitude of colorful flowers, makes an unforgettable impression. ☀️ Pelicans seen from a kayak One of Montenegro's wonders is Lake Skadar. This karst lake is known primarily as a haven for numerous bird species. According to ornithologists, over half of Europe's bird species settle here or rest during migration. It's no wonder, then, that the lake has been protected as a national park for years. 🏖 The lake is best explored by boat or kayak. This is the best way to observe birds and aquatic plants. One of the biggest attractions is the large pelican population. ☀️ An Attractive Former Capital From Lake Skadar, it's best to head to the former capital of the country, Cetinje. There are many interesting monuments, churches, and palaces here. Nearby is the interesting Linden Cave, which is open to tourists. 🏖 The city is also a great starting point for exploring the Lovcen Mountains National Park. Numerous trails invite you to hike or cycle. ☀️ Budva, a Seaside Resort A few dozen minutes' drive separates Cetinje from Budva, a beautifully situated seaside town. This city has two faces. Among other things, the relics of the monastery's founder are located here. ☀️ Hiking Since most of Montenegro is covered in mountains, the conditions for mountain sports and simple hiking are simply excellent. One of the most interesting sites is the unique Tara Canyon, which stretches for over 80 km, with walls reaching up to 1,300 m in some places. Rafting down the Tara River, which flows through the canyon, is a major attraction. Montenegro has several such unique canyons worth seeing. 🏖 Montenegro boasts three interesting mountain ranges, still undiscovered by most tourists: Bjelasica, Komovi, and Prokletije. Each has its own distinct character, with the highest peaks exceeding 2,500 m in height. There are many interesting trails of varying difficulty for hikers. The mountain ranges are quite wild, so you can expect to see some pristine, magnificent flora and fauna. The stunning views from the peaks and passes are also breathtaking.
